19th (& 20th) June 2012

This year we propose to combine a walk in the Réserve Naturelle de Neouvielle with some exploration in nearby Spain the following day.

The programme will be suitable for both walkers and the less energetic and you will be rewarded with superb views of these magnificent areas.

The rendez-vous is fixed at midday on the 19th June, at the Chalet Hotel du Lac d’Oredon.

We encourage you to join us the following day in a short trip to nearby Spain (the night of the 19th June can be spent in St. Lary, where there are several reasonably-priced hotels). We will drive to Bielsa, stopping on the way to look at the perfect little Templar chapel at Aragnouet. Beyond Bielsa, and after a drive through the spectacular Anisclo canyon, we shall arrive for lunch in the Romanesque town of Ailsa, with time afterwards for a stroll around the cobbled streets and the Plaza Mayor.

On the way back, Bielsa offers cheap petrol, spirits, wine and olive oil !

For more information, contact Marion Tempé at moustemp@aol.com who will forward your enquiries to the organizer, Roger Tarn.

Below: The Higher Lake (Lac d’Aubert) in Neouvielle.

A leading expert on Darwinism, Victorians and especially Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson) Dame Gillian explored the subject of Carroll’s paraxodes with time and space in a charming way. If you missed it see this link – she starts 5.30 minutes in.
